"When you hear about the experiences that others go through, it puts your own life into perspective. How do you take the pain in someone else's life, and reflect on it? Is there even anything you can learn from the struggles of someone else? When your friend's alcoholic father fires a bullet through the wall in a haze of drunkenness or an innocuous mistake jeopardizes their closest friendships, when they hate themselves, I mean, obviously, be there for them. Call them. Text them. Ask if they're okay. Ask if they're taking care of themselves.

But the more pressing question, and the one that brings me to become who I am today, is how do you take the struggles of someone else, and apply them to your own life? And I think, only by juxtaposing others, can we truly realize the beauty of our own lives. By making it, so that we appreciate our own day-to-day lives even more. Thinking about the future or the past is too tiring. If there's anything that the struggles of others can teach us, is to appreciate the mundane everyday lives that we lead. Isn't it ironic, that what influenced me the most to appreciate my own life, is the pain in the lives of others? But, I suppose that's just how it is sometimes, isn't it?"
